I’m going to the store to buy a rod and reel, instead of buying a fish at the grocery store!
Okay, it’s not quite that bad…yet, but the companies that are designing GE (genetically engineered) fish are (still) seeking FDA approval to have this kind of fish deemed safe and sold in stores without having to be labelled as GE!
I don’t know about you my blog followers but this is something I am 100% against. At the very least we as health conscious consumers need to be given the choice! We need to see clear honest labeling of GMO, GE and other modified foods!
I applaud companies like Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and others, that are already taking a stand against this product! If enough companies take a stand it won’t matter if the FDA approves this fish (and others that are being designed around the world), they’ll never make it into our stores, into the markets. The main company working specifically on GE salmon has already been on the verge of bankruptcy a number of times, and I hope that they do not get this GM/GE fish to market! (see my link to the full article included at the bottom of this post)
Alaskan wild caught salmon is still the safest and healthiest fish overall to eat. Perhaps it’s time to plan a fishing trip. I’ve always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise, perhaps I’ll just have to make it a slightly different trip… who’s with me? 🙂
